This past weekend, I was transported back to high school attending the Is For Lovers Music Festival in Irvine. It felt like 2004, I had beach blond streaks throughout my hair and I looked like your typical early 2000s SoCal beach girl. The high school amphitheater speakers were blaring Bayside at the central quad during lunch, I was sitting with my friends talking about our weekend plans and all I could think about was how I could get Ryan P to notice me. He was dating the most popular girl in his class and sadly, we only knew each other through the high school swim team. Twenty years later I find myself near a mosh pit at the Bayside stage and in the right corner of my eye, there’s an almost forty year dad that looks so familiar and I’m reminded of Ryan P and our love for Bayside’s debut album Sirens and Condolences.
