What I read, watched and listened to in March.

The Lady from The Black Lagoon by Mallory O’Meara

Have you heard of Milicent Patrick? I learned a lot about her years ago, became obsessed and took a deep dive into film history, it’s the researcher and archivist in me. This book is a journey and it’s so good! From childhood and into her career in Hollywood, Milicent had such a life. This book is a celebration of a woman whose talents were used over and over, but credit for that work was so often handed over to her male supervisors. Milicent was a pioneer in the early history of American Film, and it’s a shame she’s kind of been lost to history. Now’s lets cast Debi mazer as Milicent Patrick and let’s make a biopic on this truly talented person that was left out of American Film history.

Broad City (Hulu)

Work has been very draining so lately dinner time tv has been a lot of re-watching and what better way to unwind than hanging out with Ilana and Abbi from Broad City. I love everything about this show. Abbi and Ilana are best friends and their shenanigans around New York make me cry-laugh every time. It doesn’t matter that I’ve re-watched this show a thousand times, I will always feel better after watching Broad City.

The Case of Reema Virk on Apple Podcast

I cannot remember what True Crime podcast I listened to when I learned about the case of Reema Virk but there are a handful of episodes from different podcasts that have discussed this case. While listening to the episode, I realized I owned a book about her case written by one of my favorite authors, Rebecca Godfrey. The book Under the Bridge focuses on the case and has been adapted into a tv show staring Lily Gladstone that comes next month.
