Weekend Wrap Up

Weekend Wrap Up

This last weekend was a relaxing one. It’s been a bit since I’ve had a lazy day and Sunday was definitely a day of leisure. Most of the day was spent poolside with a small stack of my 80s teen paperbacks., getting a light tan and dangling my feet over the edge of the pool, staring up at the cloudless sky and watching the palm trees sway with the wind. The seasonal residents are back and I love watching grandparents and kids get excited about hitting the pool in March, it’s such a treat from the bitter cold of Canada and the Midwest.

After battling my cat (who underwent dental surgery a few days ago) to give her, her medicine, I felt like being a little extra and made bagel sandwiches with chips and a pomegranate presecco smash. It was so refreshing. I finally finished Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb and loved it. I immediately ordered the follow-up workbook that accompanies her 2019 book and I can’t wait to get it in.

We actually started our day watching a documentary about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. A few days ago, I stumbled across an Amy Poehler produced documentary about the couple on Amazon Prime, so David and I watched it Sunday morning and we both absolutely loved it. I grew up on I Love Lucy. Any time my sister and I would stay over at my grandma’s house (which was often), we’d eat dinner and dessert watching I Love Lucy. I had no idea the role the show (and Lucy & Desi as a couple) played in changing television. I love Amy Poehler and I’ll watch just about anything she’s involved with. She did such a fantastic job with the documentary. I highly recommend everyone watch it. Obviously after the movie, David and I wanted to watch a few episodes of Lucy and luckily years ago I was able to find the series set at a local thrift store in Rancho Mirage, so we ended the day watching I Love Lucy.
