What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall

I’ve spent the last year reading all of Kate Alice Marshall’s books and I truly love them all. I tore through this one the day I got it. A dark story about friendship and betrayal, I haven’t read a thriller this good in a long, long time. I’m usually disappointed by the time I get to the end of a thriller novel, but Marshall can write a ending, it’s usually poetic but sinister and I love it.

Hacks on HBO

A little late to the game on this show but I am absolutely loving the newest Paul Downs comedy, Hacks. The writing is excellent, Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder are fantastic as the lead actors and I cannot wait for the third season. If you haven’t yet watched this show it centers on the professional relationship between a legendary stand-up comedian and a young comedy writer. Just go watch it!

Devil in the Dorm

I first read about this story when The Cut released an expose on Larry Ray back in 2019. This is one of the craziest stories I’ve ever heard, like, how did this happen? Since I’m close in age to the Sarah Lawrence students, I would not have been ok with a parent living with me and my roommates, especially since it seemed obvious the parent was abusing them. I would have gone to the school. And how did the school not know about this? There are so many questions. A truly messed up story, my heart goes out to the victims.
